Team Bahamas Named for IAAF World Relays Bahamas 2017

NASSAU, The Bahamas – The much anticipated official Team Bahamas has been named for the fast approaching IAAF World Relays Bahamas 2017 to be held in New Providence on April 22 and 23 at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium.

“We are very pleased with the selection of athletes for Team Bahamas, IAAF World Relays Bahamas 2017,” said Team Manager, Philippa Willie. “We have some familiar names. We have some very big international names and of course we have very talented up-coming athletes who will be first-timers to this event.

The thirty-two (32) member team consists of twenty Olympians, headed up by The Bahamas’ recently crowned golden girl, Shaunae Miller and seven of the country’s most decorated male 400m champions. Hurdle specialist, Ivanique Kemp, will join CARIFTA qualifiers Wendira Moss and Devine Parker to make up the eight (8) female athletes named to the 4x100m squad.

“With this mix of athletes, The Bahamas is sure to be a viable contender for the Golden Baton. We are very proud of our athletes and hold them in high esteem, knowing that their performance on the track is always A-1. We say a big congratulations to all the athletes participating on Team Bahamas. Go for gold!!”

Officials at National Sports Authority and the IAAF World Relays Bahamas 2017 are very busy making final preparations for the sporting event set to take place in just a few weeks. BTC has signed on as the title sponsor and other sponsors are as follows:

The following events will be held in the IAAF Relays Bahamas 2017:

4 x 100m, 4 x 200m, 4 x 400m, 4 x 800m and this year the Relays will see a new and exciting feature in the form of a co-ed 4 X 400 meter race. The top 8 finishers of the 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m, for both men and women, will qualify for the IAAF World Championships in London later this year. A junior program with athletes from The Bahamas will be held prior to the IAAF World Relays Bahamas 2017.

Single session tickets range from $15.00 to $70.00 and can be purchased at the stadium or online. Event t-shirts are on sale at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium and at all Dorsett Tees locations.
